✅ Content warning threads have their posts hidden by default, because the author thinks some may not want to see them.
You can open all the posts in a content warning thread by clicking on the 👁️ icon in the top right corner of the original post. Clicking it again hides them again.
You can also set content warning threads to be open by default by going to Preferences > Appearance > Always Expand Toots Marked With Content Warnings, then Save Changes
✅ If you want people to see your posts, it is really important that you use hashtags!
For privacy reasons, on Mastodon the only way to find messages is by searching for hashtags. If a hashtag isn't included in a post, people cannot search for it.
So, don't be shy about using lots of hashtags in your messages, it's a central part of using Mastodon!
✅ If you are an experienced Mastodon user with a desktop computer, you might want to check out Mastodon's Tweetdeck-style advanced web interface.
To activate it:
1️⃣ Go to Preferences
2️⃣ Go to Appearance
3️⃣ Select "Enable advanced web interface"
4️⃣ Click "Save changes"
You can deactivate it by the same method.
✅ You can protect your followers' privacy on Mastodon by adjusting your account's settings:
1️⃣ Click on "Preferences"
2️⃣ Click on "Other"
3️⃣ Activate "Hide Your Network" and then click "Save Changes"
You will still be able to see your list of followers when logged in, but they will be hidden from everyone else.
✅ You can verify yourself as the owner of a website on Mastodon. This is handy if you want to prove your account is official.
Verified website links appear in green, to show they are owned by that account holder.
1️⃣ Go to Edit Profile
2️⃣ Scroll down and add your website in the "Profile Metadata" section
3️⃣ Copy the "Verification" code and paste it into your website's code
4️⃣ Click on "Save Changes"
✅ You can find the URL of a Mastodon profile by going to its profile page and clicking on its avatar. This opens the profile's public page in a new window, which has the profile's URL address.
✅ If you're trying to follow an account on a different server but your own server doesn't show it in search results, try searching for its URL instead:
1️⃣ Find the URL address of the account you want to follow
2️⃣ Copy and paste the address into the search box on your server
3️⃣ When the search result appears, click on the follow button next to the account's name
This also works with account URLs from non-Mastodon fediverse services like PeerTube or PixelFed.

✅ How to move your followers from one Mastodon server to another:

2️⃣ Go back to the OLD account, go to its "Edit Profile", scroll to the bottom and click on the link in the section marked "Move to a different account". Follow the instructions.
