“But the range of issues dilutes the power of abortion rights lobbying and outside spending, experts told OpenSecrets, as top-spending abortion rights groups like Planned Parenthood and EMILY’s List are not singularly focused in the way many anti-abortion rights groups are.” opensecrets.org/news/2022/07/a

"rich and mysterious 2018 collaboration with Alexander Hacke of Einstürzende Neubauten... Wovenhand...has gradually shifted over the years from an intense, stark gothic country feel to a more electrified, louder, and heavier sound. The effect has been akin to watching something ancient and chthonic rise out of the dusty earth, summoned by Edwards’s apocalyptic prophet vibe, and learn to take a fierce joy in the noise and bustle of the modern world." chicagoreader.com/music/wovenh

I highly recommend John Waters' first novel, Liarmouth. A gay, talking penis. Militant bouncers (people who bounce). A wretched, frigid (until she finds the right man) suitcase-stealing con woman. Topped off with an anilingus convention. I don't know how this doesn't become a film.

I've been to actual movie theaters three times in the last week. 2 in the Megaplex (Dr Strange and Jurassic World) and 1 at the art house (Crimes of the Future). I wish the megaplex would use at least some of those screens for regularly showing films like Cronenberg's. At the very least they are doing some one-night onlys of classic films. The Thing and Studio Ghibli movies, for example.
